October 2026 Photography Thoughts!

The autumn (Fall) season is here and it's time to make some new memories!
Autumn is a great time to take pictures, the leaves on trees and changing colour. The weather is cooler then the summer and Halloween is around the corner.

Halloween:
Of course, there is no better time to bring out the camera than on Halloween. Costumes, candy, and photos! This year we celebrate on Saturday October 31, 2024.

Halloween is a holiday celebrated each year on October 31st, and the tradition originated with the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, when people would light bonfires and wear costumes to ward off ghosts.
In the eighth century, Pope Gregory III designated November 1 as a time to honor all saints. Soon, All Saints Day incorporated some of the traditions of Samhain. The evening before was known as All Hallows Eve, and later Halloween. Over time, Halloween evolved into a day of activities like trick-or-treating, carving jack-o-lanterns, festive gatherings, donning costumes and eating treats.

Instax Pal 2:
Fujifilm has officially introduced the Instax Pal 2 one of the smallest and arguably strangest cameras in the Instax family.

It is not really an instant camera in the traditional sense. There is no film inside and nothing pops out of the bottom after you press the shutter.
Instead, this is an incredibly small digital camera designed to make taking photographs simple and fun, with images either transferred to your phone or sent to one of Fujifilm's compatible Instax printers.
Fujifilm has also made the Pal 2 feel much more like an actual camera than the original Pal. There is now a built-in optical viewfinder along with a 1-inch LCD screen, while the camera itself uses a 28mm-equivalent f/2.2 lens and a 1/3.06-inch CMOS sensor.
Pal 2 is about having fun rather than obsessing over technical specifications. Fujifilm offers five filter themes containing six effects each, with favorite effects selectable through the accompanying Instax Pal app.
There is also a new Instax Animation mode, where holding down the shutter can capture up to 10 consecutive images and turn them into a flipbook-style animation. The camera can hold around 100 photographs internally before you need to transfer them, with micro SD, micro SDHC and micro SDXC cards also supported if you want additional storage.
The single autofocus and face-detection AF should make it considerably easier to use as an everyday point-and-shoot. It can also focus from around 80mm, opening up the possibility of getting surprisingly close to your subject. You can choose between 10MP and deliberately lower-resolution 1MP shooting for different digital looks.
The Pal 2 is a tiny camera you can carry almost anywhere, point at something without thinking about it, and enjoy the process of making pictures.
Camp Snap 110 D:
A retro Camp Snap camera that looks like the 1970's 110 cameras but in a digital format. What is old is new again.

You get an 8MP Sony sensor paired with a fixed 26mm-equivalent lens, while images are saved as straightforward JPEG files to a pre-installed 4GB microSD card that can hold around 2,000 photographs. It is essentially the point-and-shoot simplicity of an old pocket film camera.
Perhaps more importantly, there is still no rear screen. That has always been one of the biggest attractions of Camp Snap cameras, because you take the photograph and move on rather than immediately checking whether you captured the perfect shot.
It brings back a little of that anticipation that made disposable and film cameras so enjoyable, while still giving you the convenience of transferring everything digitally afterwards. A USB-C connection handles both charging and image transfer to a smartphone, tablet or computer, with Camp Snap rating the rechargeable battery for around 500 photographs per charge.
Camp Snap has built five different looks directly into the 110D, including Standard, Vintage 1, Vintage 2, Analog and Black & White, which can be selected on the camera. The Camp Snap 110D also supports creating your own filters, while the built-in dual-tone flash can provide either a cooler 6,500K or warmer 3,000K light. For something designed to be incredibly simple, there is actually a surprising amount of creative control hiding underneath that retro exterior.
Camp Snap says this is its fastest shutter-button design yet, with a near-instant response intended to make the 110D feel much snappier than some of its previous screen-free cameras.
The QuickDraw battery-saving system also allows the camera to automatically fall asleep when it isn't being used, but pressing the shutter wakes it ready to shoot without having to fiddle with a power button. That makes far more sense for a camera like this, which will probably spend most of its life sitting in a pocket until something worth photographing suddenly appears.
the Camp Snap 110D is going to be popular. It isn't trying to compete with the latest mirrorless camera or even your smartphone on outright image quality; instead, it takes photography back to being uncomplicated, spontaneous, and fun!
For someone like me who had a 110 camera in the 1970's, this is a nostalgic camera with the feel of my childhood.
