August 2026 Photography Thoughts!

The warm weather is here soon and time to make some new summer memories!
Compact Camera's are the rage in the Summer of 2026. They are light weight, easy to use, and easy to take along on all our adventures.
Bridge Camera:
The return of the Bridge Camera in the form of the Sony RX10 V. In many ways it’s the ultimate all-in-one zoom, but how relevant is this type of camera today and which kind of photographer is it for? An all-in-one camera with a fixed zoom lens.
Bridge cameras combine the simplicity of a compact with the substantial grip and handling of a DSLR, while adding the major advantage of a powerful built-in zoom lens. Their focal ranges can stretch from wide-angle views to extreme telephoto reach, often going far beyond what would be practical or affordable with an interchangeable-lens system.
That versatility makes them excellent all-rounders for photographers who want to shoot a little of everything. Wildlife, sports, landscapes, travel, and family photography can all be covered with a single camera, which is why bridge models remain such popular choices for holidays and days out.
Sony’s long-awaited RX10 V keeps the huge 24-600mm lens that made the series special, but adds faster processing, AI subject recognition, improved video, and much better controls.

New Movie:
Ron Howard's new documentary movie, Avedon, reminds us why the greatest photographer of the 20th century didn't care what camera he used.

The front has one major difference compared to the original – the lens can now accept 30.5mm screw-in filters. That’s a smaller filter size that’s not easy to find in stores, but it makes it possible to add on a protective filter or a haze filter for an even more film-like look.

The back of the camera also houses the on-off switch, which also has a slot to turn the flash on.
The star of the show is the optical viewfinder. Without a screen, the Camp Snap 2 is used like an old-school disposable film camera: you have to put the camera up to your face and look through the viewfinder.
