Spring 2025:
Spring is a great time to dust off your camera equipment and start making new memories. Whether Film camera, cell phone camera, digital compact camera, DSLR or Mirrorless camera. It does not matter which hardware we use as long as we expand our photography memories.
In fact, an inexpensive compact mirrorless camera is becoming one of the most popular cameras of 2025.
I found a great article By Hillary K. Grigonis about the Nikon Z30!
What is ISO in Photography:
Since I was a young child, a camera was an extra appendage to my body, much like my uncle who took his camera everywhere with him. We were both film photographers back then. Then I got into digital photography and of course have a smartphone camera.
When I first started photography ISO was the film speed that you bought to put into a camera. Camera film comes in different speeds, (100, 200, and 400 ISO) with a higher ISO rating equating to a ‘faster’ film – which means it is more sensitive to light, enabling you to use faster shutter speeds than you can with ‘slower’ film.
We also use ISO in digital photography measuring the camera’s sensitivity to light. The digital image senor's light sensitivity is managed by the ISO settings controls. The higher the ISO number the more image noise in your photos. However, higher ISO numbers are invaluable in low light photography.
An ISO setting that makes the sensor more sensitive to light than usual and thus requires less exposure than usual. Fast settings are useful in low-light situations where long shutter speeds are not suitable. A drawback is that grain-like noise within the image becomes more pronounced as the ISO speed is increased.

Amazon's Best Selling Camera:

The Chuzhao is a cheap retro compact that looks like twin-lens reflex camera, but there is more then meets the eye!

I recently spent a few days in Calgary Alberta and Las Vegas Nevada. Two different weather systems but a great time in both cities.
